SUNNYDAZE CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL FACT SHEET & FAQs


When: Saturday 19th to Sunday 20th August 2017. People camping will be allowed entry at 08.00 on Saturday, and the event runs from 10.00 to 21.00 on Saturday and 10.00 to 18.00 on Sunday.
Where: Rathbeggan Lakes- Closed to the public that weekend
For Who: Families with children of ALL ages and abilities, suitable from age 0+
Camping: FREE overnight camping on Saturday night
for Weekend Ticket holders only Tickets: Saturday Day, Sunday Day and Weekend (Saturday & Sunday with overnight camping included) available online at www.sunnydazechildrensfestival.ie – book early!!!  Please note day ticket holders will not be able to camp overnight on Saturday.

 


THE FESTIVAL


Q) What is the Sunnydaze Children’s Festival?
A) Sunnydaze Children’s Festival is a fantastic 2 day fully-programmed weekend family festival taking place at Rathbeggan Lakes, from Saturday 19th to Sunday 20th August this year with free overnight camping on the Saturday night for weekend ticket holders only. Described as “ElectricPicnic for Kids” this weekend family festival promises to be MASSIVE and will SELL OUT!!


The festival comprises of 3 festival areas:
1)
Mainstage with Live Entertainment
2)
Big Bubbles– with interactive cool games for kids of all ages and abilities and
3)
Crannóg Crafts – nature crafts for kids and families to make and enjoy!
Sunnydaze Children’s Festival ticket holders will also receive TOKENS for Rathbeggan Lakes as

follows:

Family Ticket- Day or Weekend includes 10 tokens
Single Ticket- Day or Weekend include 5 tokens
Extra tokens available at Rathbeggan Lakes on the day


Q) What’s happening on the Mainstage?
A) A selection of Live Music, Entertainment, Puppet Shows, Story-telling, Kidisco and more!


Q) What’s Big Bubbles?
A) Big Bubbles is a safe and exciting environment promoting interaction, imagination, participation and learning at play and fun for all the family. It will include a wide variety of interactive cool games for kids like Giant Angry Birds, Dragon Pirate’s Boat, Giant Snakes & Ladders, Swinging Hammocks, Face-painting & much more.


Q) What is Crannóg Crafts?
A) Promoting creativity and eco-mindfulness in the replica of a Neolithic village within Rathbeggan Lakes, the Crannóg Crafts Area will host a variety of workshops where children will have the opportunity to use their hands and minds in a very creative and natural manner. Workshops include Phoenix Earthcare, Sun Catchers and Junkyard Beats.


Q) What can I use my tokens for at Rathbeggan Lakes?
A) Each Single Festival Ticket includes 5 token while a Family Festival Ticket includes 10 tokens. There are   variety of activities at Rathbeggan Lakes that require tokens as follows: Swan Paddle Boats (5 tokens per boat); Bungee Bounce (4 tokens); Water Rollers (4 tokens); Mini Jeeps (4 tokens); Bouncy Fun Zone (5 tokens); High Kings Tower (ask Dave); Climbing (5 tokens); Abseiling (7 tokens); Zip-Line (8 tokens) .There is truly something for everyone! Extra tokens available on the day 1 token=€1


Q) Where is Rathbeggan Lakes?
A) Rathbeggan Lakes is in Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath, just 15 mins off the M50.


Q) How do I get there?
A) Take the N3 at Junction 6 from M50 and pass Blanchardstown Shopping Centre
Continue onto M3 and take the first turnoff (Exit 5)
Continue around the roundabout onto R147
After the Fairyhouse roundabout watch for the RATHBEGGAN LAKES signpost turn to the LEFT.
Rathbeggan Lakes is at the end of this road.

Q) Can I travel by public transport?
A) Yes you can take the Bus Eireann 109 Kells/Cavan Bus from Busaras (Central Bus Station)

CAMPING


Q) Is there camping at the festival?
A) Yes- there is overnight camping on Saturday but it is only available to weekend ticket holders only. You cannot camp on Saturday night if you only purchase a Saturday day ticket. There will be 2camping areas at the festival: 1) Camping for tents only 2) Camping for campervans/caravans/trailer tents only (no tents allowed in this area for health and safety reasons)

Q) Can I camp on Friday night?
A) No, the camping grounds will not be open to the public until early Saturday morning. Our happy stewards will be on board to help you set up camp on Saturday so that you don’t miss out on the family fun.

Q) Do you have tents/campers already set up there or must you bring your own?
A) Weekend ticket holders intending to camp must bring their own camping gear. There will be more tent space than campervan space- these will be limited. Access to the camping area for tents will be by foot so travel lightly. Our happy crew shall assist families here too! We will have the Rathbeggan Express, a 16 person shuttle train in operation to and fro, tooting itself from the car park to the camping site and also some wheelbarrows!!


Q) Can I bring my campervan/caravan/trailer tent?
A) Yes there are limited campervan/caravan/trailer tent places available and there is an extra cost of €30. This area will be a separate are to the tent camping area. Places are very limited so you are advised to book early to avoid disappointment.


Q) What are the camping facilities?
A) The campsite area will have basic facilities such as overhead lighting to guide people to the festival areas, portaloos and an access point to running water. There will be no electricity hook up points available. There will be no showers or hot water available.


FOOD


Q) What food will be available at Sunnydaze Children’s Festival?
There will be a selection of food stalls in a designated food area that will be carefully selected by Trillium Productions. We will try to ensure, wherever possible, to use artisan traders with ethical standards offering a variety of hot and cold snacks and meals as well as very nice coffee to keep your energy up!!


TICKETS


Q) What does the ticket include?
A) Tickets include access to ALL programmed events at the 3 festival areas-Mainstage, Big Bubbles & Crannóg crafts as well as tokens for extra activities onsite at Rathbeggan Lakes (5 tokens for single tickets, 10 token for family tickets). This token allows you access to a wonderful array of family fun activities at Rathbeggan Lakes including Swan Paddle Boats (5 tokens per boat); Bungee Bounce (4 tokens); Water Rollers (4 tokens); Mini Jeeps (4 tokens); Bouncy Fun Zone (5 tokens); High Kings Tower (ask Dave); Climbing (5 tokens); Abseiling (7 tokens); Zip-Line (8 tokens) .There is truly something for everyone! Extra token available on the day. Please note ONLY WEEKEND TICKET HOLDERS have access to OVERNIGHT CAMPING on Saturday.


Wheelchair Accessibility


Q) Will the site be wheelchair accessible?
A) Yes the festival main site will be wheelchair accessible and is suited to people of all abilities. There will be wheelchair toilets easily accessible from both the campsite and the festival at Rathbeggan Lakes. The outer parts of Rathbeggan Lakes- ie the walk around the lake are not however wheelchair accessible.

Dogs/Pets


Q) Can I bring my dog?
A) Unfortunately no. Rathbeggan Lakes operates a “no pets policy” on the days of the festival for the wellbeing of all the children and families attending. Guide dogs are an exception to this policy.

Sunnydaze Chiildren’s Festival is managed by Trillium Productions, the same production company of Sunrise Children’s Festival- their sister festival in Co. Galway. Sunrise was listed in the Irish Times 50 Things to Do This Summer with Kids (2016) and Irish Independent 50 Things For Children to Do This Summer (2017). It received 5 start reviews.
